Jenny Wiley Trail

The Jenny Wiley Trail was a hiking trail constructed in the late 70's in tribute to the pioneer heroine. It ran 163 miles from its terminus at South Portsmouth in Northeast KY to its beginning in the state park of the same name. It was connected to the Sheltowee Trace via the Dry Branch Connector (#101) at mile 10 north of Morehead. The Paragon/Craney creek to Devil's Branch section of this now defunct trail is accessable south of Morehead on 519 (left off 519 right before the Poppin Rock boat dock). While not the Sheltowee, this section of the JW trail could make a worthy side trip. These pictures were taken about 10 miles south of the Dry Branch Connector, amongst the steep, dark hollows of this area on a foggy New Years Day, 2005. (The Jenny Wiley trail has not been maintained since the mid 80's due to a lack of usage and complaints of the private landowners over whose land the trail was cut)
