Mile 1, Triplett Creek Trailhead south.

January 15: This section is still officially closed due to deadfall from an ice storm two years ago. The trail is followable, however, tangles of deadfall and briars confront any efforts to follow it for the first mile. There is a picturesque pond on top of the first ridge, and we found a new friend along the way.
