KY State Park Columbus-Belmont
Columbus-Belmont sits on the bank of the Mississippi R and was the site of a 20,000 soldier base during the Civil War. One of the interesting features other than the shear beauty of the River is the Confederates chain that stretched across the Miss R to block Union gunboats access to the southern port of New Orleans. This park is really something. Not a whole lot of acreage to explore on foot but the 20ft. Confederate trenches, Museum, and views of the sunset on the Mississippi River makes it all worth the long trip.
