|
|
Hello,
My first post here.
I want to do a 5-7 day hike (later this spring) with the Sheltowee being a major part of a long loop. Any ideas?
Also, what sections are favored in the winter for 1 or 2 night stays?
any thoughts are appreciated.
thanks. _________________ No where, now here |

Greetings!
The best week trip is definately from the southern terminus to Laurel Lake. That's about 80 miles. Within that segment, you have basically two sections: south and north of US 27. They're both about 40 miles and equally great.
Good winter camping can be found at Cave Run Lake since they get more snow than the Big South Fork Area. So it's less likely to be raining at Cave Run in the winter.
Do you have any section you're curious about? _________________ Help map trails by submitting your waypoints and trail photos. |

You said loop with the Sheltowee!
That would most likely be the John Muir, Rock Creek, and Sheltowee Trace trails in Big South Fork.
You could do a week in the Gorge, but you'd probably have to double-up on Swift Camp Creek Trail and a small segment of the Rough Trail.
