As many of you folks already know, the section of the Trace from STree campground to Turkey Foot campground is atv legal. The one mile or so section of US421 between the trailheads is'nt legal, and this keeps about 90% of the atv traffic at STree.

Yesterday morning I saw several of my homeboys at the local gas station. They had several atvs loaded up, and were headed that way. Given the great weather we had yesterday, you can bet they were'nt the only atvs out either. With the big snowmelt we have had here over the last two days, it's a (very) safe bet that the Stree trail surface is a mess.

If you plan a section hike somewhere soon, I'd recommend staying away from here. Turkeyfoot should still be fine. If I'm out there today, I'll post again.

For the meantime, I think I'd wait for the ground to dry up alittle before heading to Stree.

This is a thought that all user groups need to bear in mind when planning a trip to the Sheltowee. Part of protecting the physical integrity of Sheltowee means knowing when not use the trail.

Hey Paul. Did you get out there? Yep, now is not the time to be ATVing or doing much on The Trace except maybe walking. And that would be a muddy challenge.

I did'nt make it to Turkeyfoot. Dragged my road bike out of the basement, and aired up the tires. Got in alittle over 50 miles on Saturday and Sunday. Two days out in the sun. What a concept.

99.99% of my atv use is with my kids. And 99.99% of that is around our house. I think Ben and I went to Turkeyfoot with atvs twice last year. My bicycle is another matter, I was probably at Turkeyfoot 30-40 times with a mtb.

It's a sad time of year for a mountain bike. I'm not much on road riding, but it looks like that may be the ticket for awhile.
