The concept of leave no trace has been around for at least 20 years that I know of. Its sad to think that many just don't get the concept.

Sadly I don't know that it'll help much. The problem is the people who dont care. When I hiked to the Bark Camp Shelter last week there is a big sign that says "Pack in-Pack out" or something of that nature and tons of garbage. |

Veela,
Was the trash at the shelter? What was the condition of the shelter?

The shelter was fine (aside from the fact there seemed to be a lot of mosquitos or something buzzing inside of it) but there was trash all around. Beer cans, potatos (real ones), etc. I think people are coming across the river by boat and leaving their trash.
The hike was kinda last-minute planned with me and boyfriend going. We didn't take a trash bag or anything so we had no way of carrying it out. |
